Scent Detection
Is your dog obsessed with sniffing?
Scent Detection might be their sport!
Scent Detection is a dog sport open to dogs of all breeds, sizes, and ages! This sport encourages dogs to exercise their natural instinct to sniff out a scent and communicate with their handler once they have located the scent in question. Scent detection can be done for fun or in a trial environment.
We are pleased to offer Scent Detection at three experience levels for students who have completed basic obedience training at Luv-A-K9.
Scent Detection Courses
Level I
Get acquainted with Scent Detection! This course introduces dogs to three scents and how to detect them in closed box hides.
Prerequisite:
Intermediate Obedience
Level II
Building upon the foundational skills in Level I Scent Detection, Level II introduces searching objects and room searches.
Prerequisite:
Level I Scent Detection
Level III
Put your dog's detection skills to the test in Level III Scent Detection! This course introduces buried objects and outdoor hides.

Level II Scent Detection

Keep learning with
Scent Detection Practice!
The fun doesn't have to stop once you complete Level III Scent Detection! Scent Detection Practice is open to dogs and handlers who have completed Level III Scent Detection at Luv-A-K9.

Outdoor Scent Detection PracticeList Item 2
Hone your dog's sniffing skills and exposure to distractions in an outdoor environment. Our outdoor practice sessions are located at our Harrowsmith location. For a detailed schedule and class openings, please reach out to our team. Please note that outdoor sessions are only available through the summer months.
